Invasive Species Week - Common Burdock

On this first day of #InvasiveSpeciesWeek, remember that  #invasivespecies have evolved many strategies to spread and reproduce in new areas. Common Burdock (Arctium minus) and similar species use hooked burrs filled with seeds that attach to livestock and wildlife. These burrs are transported to new areas where they fall or are rubbed off the animal they've hitch-hiked with. Remove & dispose of these burr-capsules from still-standing dead plants at any time, even in winter months, to prevent their spread! Pro Tip: Use @EDDMapS to mark & map dead standing Common Burdock and similar species after removing and disposing of their burrs, allowing you to revisit the site in the next growing season to look for seedlings to control!
