Castle Area Water Project Ribbon-Cutting

Yesterday the MD of Pincher Creek was pleased to gather various stakeholders for the Castle Area Water Project commissioning/ribbon-cutting, as part of the greater Beaver Mines Regional Water Supply && Waste Water Project. Despite the frigid temperatures and COVID restrictions, we briefly gathered for a photo to celebrate this occasion.

Engineers undertook this section of the project in 2017 following the Castle Area Servicing Study, which was to identify the potable water demands for Castle Provincial Park and Castle Mountain Resort. Following the design’s completion, technicians finalized the project budget at $11.3 million, and in 2019 the MD was awarded full grant funding through the Alberta Government, allowing this project to come into realization.

Despite challenges encountered during installation of the transmission main, the Castle Area Regional Water Supply Project is now complete, moving us steps further in completing the greater Beaver Mines Regional Water Supply Project within the original budget.

Congratulations to Castle Mountain Resort and residents as they enjoy this substantial infrastructure upgrade, and the MD thanks all those that played a part in seeing this project through to completion.
