MD Letter Regarding Rural Health Care
Dear Minister.
Council at their meeting of April 28, 2020, discussed the on-going situation between the Alberta Medical Association and our own Provincial Government. Both the residents of the Town of Pincher Creek and the MD of Pincher Creek rely on the exemplary services provided by local physicians and healthcare professionals in our hospital and health care clinic. Over time, our residents have come to depend upon the unique model of healthcare delivery developed here by dedicated professionals, as it is well suited to the needs of local area residents. The provision of high quality health care is not only central to the quality of life of our residents but is critical to the long-term viability of our community and region. The loss of healthcare professionals and existing services would be disastrous to our community and a detriment to its future wellbeing.
We are writing today to strongly encourage the Alberta Medical Association and the Ministry of Health to once again return to the negotiation table and in good faith find a solution to this crisis. Council most optimistically and sincerely hopes for a timely and positive outcome in these negotiations.
