Re-Gravel Program
Re-gravel Program
The re-gravel program kicked off today in the East side of Division 5. Trucks will be working out of the Waldron pit today and then moving to the Hwy 510 pit on May 11, 2026
Water trucks will be on-site to help control dust, particularly in front of residences near the road and at major intersections. However, there may be days when water trucks cannot keep pace due to anticipated hot and dry conditions and the limited availability of water. Operators will make every effort to minimize dust wherever possible.
At the March 24, 2026, Council meeting, Council accepted the recommendation of the Public Works Manager to cease the sale of gravel. This decision was not made lightly and followed careful consideration of several key factors affecting the Municipality’s long-term operations sustainability, including:
-
Limited availability of gravel:
Gravel has become increasingly difficult to source, placing pressure on the Municipality’s long-term supply needed to maintain roads and infrastructure. Residents involved in these activities should consider alternative sources or plan for future needs.
-
Rising operational costs:
Crushing costs have increased substantially. Current sale prices do not recover the full cost of crushing operations, even before accounting for royalties, stripping costs, and equipment wear.
-
Discontinuing gravel sales will help preserve municipal resources for essential infrastructure projects that directly benefit residents and the community.
The Municipality values the community’s understanding and cooperation, which helps us work together to maintain our shared infrastructure. Please contact a private
Gravel Hauling Company for the sale of gravel.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we work to improve road conditions throughout the MD
