Municipal Election 2025
The Municipal District of Pincher Creek No. 9 is preparing for the upcoming 2025 Municipal Election on Monday, October 20, 2025, from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm.
Key Dates:
Nomination Period: January 1, 2025, to September 22, 2025, at noon. Nomination papers can be submitted during this period at the MD Office, located at 1037 Herron Ave Pincher Creek AB, during regular business hours.
Election Advertising Period: As per Section 162.1 (d(e)) of the Local Authorities Election Act, the election advertising period begins on May 1st and ending at the end of the election day.
Nomination Day: September 22, 2025, Complete nomination paper and candidates' acceptance (Form 4) must be submitted by 12:00pm (noon), at the MD Office.
Eligibility Criteria for Candidates:
- At least 18 years old on Nomination Day.
- A Canadian citizen.
- A resident of the Municipal District of Pincher Creek for the six consecutive months immediately preceding Nomination Day.
- A resident of the Municipal District on Election Day.
- Not otherwise ineligible or disqualified.
Prospective candidates must submit a Notice of Intent as per Section 147.22 of the Local Authorities Election Act. This notice can be submitted at any time during the campaign period to the Returning Officer.

Municipalities must create a Permanent Electors Register.
