Pincher Creek & District Hometown Award
The Councils will honour three students for their exceptional dedication to their community. This
recognition by the Councils for both for the Town of Pincher Creek and the Municipal District of
Pincher Creek No. 9 is a testament to these students' significant impact. We are proud to support
and acknowledge the valuable contributions of post-secondary education applicants to their
community through this award.
Starting in 2025, Grade 12 students attending Matthew Halton High School, St. Michaels School,
and Livingstone School residing within the MD boundaries (including Cowley, Municipal District,
and Town of Pincher Creek) are invited to apply for the Pincher Creek & District Hometown
Award. This award, administered by the MD, is a testament to our community's commitment to
"giving back."
Each of the three schools will be awarded $1000 to a student(s) who meets the criteria listed in the
attached document. The award is intended to help reduce the financial burden of post-secondary
expenses. Recipients will be chosen based on community involvement criteria, such as volunteer
work, leadership roles, or participation in community events, and a letter stating their future goals
and aspirations.
The Pincher Creek & District Hometown Award Committee, comprised of one MD of Pincher
Creek Councillor, one Town of Pincher Creek Councillor, and two members at large from the
community, is responsible for making the tough decision.
This is the first year the Council has offered this award, and we look forward to the future!
We wish all applicants much success in their post-secondary journeys. The deadline for application
is May 1, so we can announce it at the subsequent graduation ceremony, with the money to be
released at the end of August.
