Wild Boar Prohibited in MD

Wild boars are not native to Alberta. In the 1980s and 1990s they were introduced in Alberta as livestock. At the time, there were no requirements to contain them. Over the years, some of the animals escaped and established a feral population. Wild boars can impact the environment negatively and in various ways endangering people, animals and crops.

The MD of Pincher Creek wants to remain wild boar free and is reminding producers that as part of Bylaw 1198-10 (Animal Control) wild boars are prohibited in all Land Use District within the Municipal District of Pincher Creek No. 9.
