Ribbon Cutting - PCCELC
July 3, 2020
This morning Reeve Hammond brought greetings from the MD at the ribbon cutting for the two Pincher Creek Community Early Learning Centers.
“Welcome everyone to the opening of these incredible community facilities. Thank you Mayor Anderberg, and staff for the invitation to speak on behalf of the MD of Pincher Creek.
The decision to provide financial support to the PCCELC project was not made lightly, nor was it made without reflection of the facts and with the crucial input of our MD ratepayers. I believe that the Municipal Districts’ contribution to this financial support is being provided in a responsible manner that will minimize over time the impact our MD ratepayers. Yet still allow a significant MD contribution to be made to these community projects.
We asked for public input through a survey, held an open public meeting which was well attended and had many one-on-one discussions with residents. Council was able to hear how the Leaning Centers were important to the future of our community. We heard from young families, working parents, business owners and professionals all of whom identified the need for this service that such Learning centers would provide.
Council recognizes the long term benefit to our residents and families many of whom expressed the view that such facilities were an essential service in our community.
Thank you all to who played a part in bringing this endeavor to fruition, for your dedication, your hard work and commitment.
The MD is proud to be a part of this endeavor. We wish the Town of Pincher Creek, the Board and staff of the Pincher Creek Community Early Learning Centers every success as you embark on a new and exciting journey.”
