Reeve Brian Hammond and Mayor Don Anderberg Update on PCCELC

The decision having been made, to provide financial support to the PCCELC project, it is important to affirm that the decision was not made lightly nor was it made without careful consideration of the facts and the very important input of our MD residents. Over 150 responses to the survey circulated by the MD were received. Not all but many were supportive of the idea. MD residents from a variety of circumstances made their opinions know at a public meeting where some 60 residents attended. Young families and working parents expressed the heartfelt need for the services that such a Learning center would provide.

We very much appreciated the participation and engagement of our residents in our decision-making process. In the end, the decision to support this initiative with significant capital funding was made because it was in the interest of our residents and ratepayers and ultimately will benefit the entire community well into the future.

Finally, I believe that the Municipal Districts’ contribution to this financial support PCCELC projects is being provided for in a responsible manner that will minimize over time, the impact on our MD ratepayers and yet still allow a significant contribution to be made to the project.

We are proud to be a part of this endeavor and we wish the Town of Pincher Creek, the Board and staff of the Pincher Creek Community Early Learning Centers every success as you embark on a new and exciting journey that will add to the quality of life in our community.
