Snow Removal within the MD of Pincher Creek

Residents are reminded of Corporate Policy C-PW-003 – Winter Maintenance of Municipally Directed, Controlled and Managed Roads and Airport Surfaces.  

Snowplowing on roads should not occur with less than six inches of snow on gravel roads and four inches of snow on paved roads, unless drifting has occurred.

Priority of Roads for Snow Removal:

Bus routes shall be first priority for snow removal. 

Remaining oil and gravel roads, including roads within a Hamlet, shall be second priority.

Snow is then cleared for the airport and undeveloped road allowances, in that order of priority.

On request, residents can ask for driveway snow removal and are directed to Corporate Policy C-PW-003A. Residents must submit the Driveway Snow Removal Application Form to the Public Works Department. 

** Please note there is an understanding that  snow removal of this category is on a fourth priority basis, and will not be completed until the storm has ended and all previous priorities are completed, including winging back excessive storm accumulations. Residents are encouraged to use private contractors as driveway snow removal could take days for the MD to get to.
