Deadstock Sustainable Solution Initiative
In early January, the Municipal District of Pincher Creek was made aware of the landfills decision to no longer accept carcasses and butchering waste as of March 31, 2019. A meeting was held at the MD office on January 16th, 2019 with governing partners, regulatory personnel and interested parties to begin a discussion as to how this will effect residents and businesses in the community, as well as a plan going forward.
While no decision on a solution was made, the meeting allowed for discussion on what current disposal methods are being utilized as well as the impact the closure will have. An action plan going forward will involve the Municipal District of Pincher Creek facilitating another joint discussion to find a sustainable and workable solution for all involved.
The next planning session will be held on Thursday, February 21st, 2019 at 1:00 pm and will be hosted in Council Chambers at the MD of Pincher Creek Administration Building.
