No.9

Boards and Committees

Agricultural Service Board

The Agricultural Service Board ( ASB) consists of two (2) members of Council and four (4) public members from the MD of Pincher Creek. The ASB is an advisory board to our municipal Council that advocates for issues that are important to our agricultural community.  Our municipality is one of a few in the province that maintains a majority of our board members as producer members.  This means that they are not involved with Council, so they can focus on agricultural and environmental issues that affect our farmers and ranchers in our unique corner of the province.  Issues are many and varied and are brought to the attention of the highest levels of provincial government, through our Council, and through resolutions to the province at the Alberta Association of Municipal Districts and Counties (AAMDC, which is exclusively for rural Councils), or through resolutions to the province at the ASB Provincial Conference in January (exclusively for ASB’s).

Municipal Planning Commission

The Municipal Planning Commission (MPC) consists of five (5) members of Council plus two (2) public members from the MD of Pincher Creek.

The Land Use Bylaw consists of three uses - Permitted, Discretionary, and Prohibited. The purpose of the MPC is to hear all discretionary development permit applications and to render their decision based on the requirements set forth within the Land Use Bylaw.

Subdivision Authority

The Subdivision Authority (SA) consists of five (5) members of Council. The purpose of the SA is to review all subdivision applications and render their decision based on the provisions set forth within the Municipal Development Plan.

Subdivision and Development Appeal Board

The Subdivision and Development Appeal Board (SDAB) consists of five (5) public members from the MD of Pincher Creek. The purpose of the SDAB is to hear appeals from Municipal subdivision and development authorities.
